Maintenance Checklist for 4-Stroke Motorized Bicycles
A practical, easy-to-follow guide for MOTOMOTO owners — service your engine, fuel system, brakes, tyres and drivetrain to stay safe and efficient.
Regular maintenance keeps your MOTOMOTO riding smoothly, reduces breakdowns and extends engine life. This checklist is built for owners of 4-stroke motor-assisted pedal bicycles (like the MOTOMOTO Explora). Print it, pin it, and follow the schedule below.
Before Each Ride (Daily)
- Fuel level: Check tank and cap; use only 95-octane petrol.
- Tires: Inspect for punctures, cuts and correct pressure.
- Brakes: Test front & rear for firm, responsive stopping.
- Throttle & cables: Confirm smooth, snag-free action.
- Loose fasteners: Quick visual check for rattles or loose bolts.
Weekly Checks
- Air filter: Clean washable foam filter.
- Chain: Check tension & lubricate with chain oil.
- Spark plug: Inspect for fouling; clean or note for replacement.
- Engine case: Wipe down & inspect for leaks or damage.
Monthly
- Engine oil: Change oil (SAE 10W-30, ~600ml).
- Brake pads: Inspect for wear; replace if below safe thickness.
- Wheels & spokes: Check alignment and spoke tension.
- Mounting bolts: Tighten frame and engine mount bolts.
Every 3–6 Months (≈500 km)
- Spark plug replacement: Replace if performance drops or every ~6 months.
- Carburetor & fuel line: Deep-clean carburetor and inspect fuel hoses.
- Tires & tubes: Replace if worn or damaged.
- Suspension & grips: Inspect fork seals and handlebar grips.
